The only reminder Zoe Muhl has of her night with a handsome stranger is a pendant he leaves her. From that night of passion, she gives birth to twins, which causes her to be disowned by the Muhls, while her position is reclaimed by their biological daughter, Candy. Bitter over Zoe apparently stealing 20 years of the life that was rightfully hers, Candy fakes the death of the twins, and abandons them, leaving Zoe to mourn her babies.
